  • Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team

My novel, The House on the Shore, set in the Scottish Highlands with its rugged terrain, has an intense scene in the rocky gorges of the moors and mountains, and when I was researching, two team members of Wasdale Mountain Rescue came to my rescue...supplying technical details of rescue in rugged terrain and helping me create the stupendous scenes in the novel. Thank you gentlemen!

    Something sweet.

As a former mountain climber, I love this tie-in to the rescue team. These folks provide a valuable service, one most of us never think about until we're on a weekend climb or hike and get stranded in the back country many miles from nowhere. Of course, from a writer's point of view, the technical information such team members can provide about the backbreaking, and often dangerous work, they do is invaluable.

My hat's off to these volunteers who give of their time in the service of others.
